Each of the components that make up Nik Collection range provide a whole range of creative effects as well as the ability to alter colors, produce High-Dynamic Range images, remove noise from photos, and sharpen up images that need a bit more bite. Another advantage is there’s no need to struggle with smelly chemicals and hours in a dark room.Īs well as Silver Efex Pro, the complete Nik Collection 2.3 includes Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Dfine 2, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Viveza 2.

This latest version of the Nik Collection is undoubtedly a major upgrade and it’s probably fair to say that the Nik Collection is worth buying just for Silver Efex Pro alone as it’s held in such high esteem by digital photographers who hanker after classic black and white films that are no longer available or else in short supply.

This latest update to the Nik Collection includes some brand new black and white film simulations. To ensure the best possible compatibility with user’s systems, the Nik Collection 2.3 update has been optimized to make it compatible with macOS Catalina as well as the latest versions of Adobe Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements and other software packages that also use Photoshop plugins. Finally, Ilford 100 and 400 were both picked for their versatility and sharpness, while Rollei 100 Tonal has a fine grain and soft contrasts, which DxO claims are popular among fans of architectural photography. DxO says it’s an excellent choice for landscape and studio photography. Foma 100, is a classic panchromatic film with a fine grain and high resolution, and it offers a wide range of greys even in bright light. Bergger BRF 400 Plus, on the other hand, was picked for its moderate contrast and average grain, which makes it more suited to landscape photos. For example, Adox Silver Max 21 was chosen for its fine grain and ability to produce deep blacks and a wide range of greys, making it an ideal option for portraits. In a press release, DxO says that each of the new film simulations has been selected for its artistic merits or historical appeal. This Silver Efex Pro Academic Edition software is only for use by students, teachers, instructors and other educators who meet Nik Software. This latest Nik Collection 2.3 update includes 10 brand-new film simulations of some classic black-and-white film-stocks such as Adox Silver Max 21, Agfa Scala 200x, Bergger BRF 400 Plus, Foma 100, Fuji Neopan 400, Ilford Pan 100 and 400, Polaroid 667 and 672, and Rollei 100 Tonal.
